Daniel's debut novelThe onlywas praised by readers and has received the highest rating out of hundreds (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) atBooks. Where it also reached first place on the sales list in 2018.

In the shadow of your silence is the second part in Daniel Mendoza's trilogy The only. The book begins in a scene from the first book where Nelson tells his friends about a meeting in Malmö with a woman named Lea Del-Mar..

In the shadow of your silence is initially about Nelson and Lea. But the further into the story you get, the more pieces of the puzzle fall into place regarding Nathaniel's life and family history. One that was not mentioned in the first book and that stretches back all the way to 15th century Southern Europe. What are the ties between him and Lea? Is the meeting between him and Elma the terminus or just an eye opener to something bigger and deeper?

In the shadow of your silence Daniel chose to include many of life's nuances. The story is darker than in the first book, but the love is also much stronger and brighter. The book is about strong bonds, inheritance, culture clashes, death, sex, life, moving on, violence, abuse, physical and mental freedom, longing to return to one's roots, humor and much more, but above all about the true love between two people and how it intertwines life's destinies.

In this book too, you will be accompanied by a narration and take part in poems. One such poem is:

    time and distance
    means little
    when you meet it
    which means everything
